Campus life in SMCCI is structured to meet the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, aesthetic, moral, and physical needs of the learners towards the total formation of every Michaelinian.

Student Activities

Michaelinians are given numerous opportunities for involvement in– and off-campus.  Meaningful involvement in school life fosters the development of life-long skills that are translated to a variety of real-life situations. The personal discipline, inter-personal skills, work skills, leadership skills and the human and Christian virtues that one develops through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are truly valuable components of the school’s mission of total formation of the human person

A. Religious

These activities impress on the students’ minds the necessity of communal worship as an indication that human beings recognize their inherent dependence on God. They aim to bring students to a deeper and more intimate relationship with God. Examples are:

  1. Mass/Eucharist (departmental, institutional)
  2. Recollections and retreats
  3. Rosary
  4. Faith-sharing sessions
  5. First Friday devotions
  6. Celebration of saint’s feast days and liturgical seasons
  7. Outreach programs

B. Social

These activities are intended to train the students to act properly in the company of others on various occasions, to make use of their leisure time profitably, and to show how enriching the personhood and company of others can be. They include:

  1. Orientation
  2. Initiation
  3. Talent shows
  4. School programs and presentations including plays and concerts
  5. Field Day activities
  6. Christmas parties and classroom fiestas
  7. Intramurals and other sports events

C. Academic and Cultural

These activities are supplementary to classroom activities. They are intended to expand the intellectual and cultural horizon of the students by taking them into the wider field or reality.

  1. Convocations and assemblies
  2. Academic contests
  3. Cultural shows
  4. Field trips or educational tours
  5. Symposia
  6. Seminars or Workshops
  7. Exhibits

Student Services

The Student Services Unit is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the implementation of the comprehensive student services which include financial assistance, guidance services, health services, supervision over student      organization activities and student discipline, publication and canteen services.

To effectively carry out its primary objectives, the Student Services Unit is charged with the following functions and responsibilities:

  • formulates, recommends and implements the comprehensive student services in line with the Michaelinian identity and SMCCI Vision-Mission, Goals and Objectives;
  • directs and supervises the counseling of groups and individuals on matters pertaining to personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, social and  recreational activities and financial assistance;
  • oversees the implementation of student discipline policies;
  • oversees the effective functioning of the health, publication and canteen services; and
  • facilitates the development of responsible leadership and intelligent followership.

The Student Affairs commits to the promotion of Christian Leadership and Intelligent Followership towards the total formation of every Michaelinian, with Mary as our model, and St. Michael and St. Paul as our patron and protector.

MISSION

As a community of Disciples of Christ, the Student Affairs pledges to:

· promote Christian character and discipline;

· facilitate responsible leadership and intelligent followership; and

· ensure total personal development and command involvement through co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

“THE MICHAELINIAN” is the official publication of St. Michael College, Cantilan, Incorporated. It is managed by the editorial staff, under the guidance and direction of a designated Publication in-charge and Moderators.

VISION

The Guidance Center envisions to be a facilitator of behavior modification that will guide the Michaelinian towards self-integration in the attainment of his/her full human potential and become an effective member of the society.

MISSION

Guided by the vision, the personnel commits to:

1. promote the full functioning of the individuals to become  responsible members of the society;

2. develop more dynamic understanding of self and others for favorable adjustment to the environment;

3. increase their sensitivity and concern to social needs and issues in the pursuit of building Christian communities; and

4. integrate Christian values in the process of giving therapeutic interventions  and counseling.

VISION

The Saint Michael College, Cantilan, Incorporated library foresees a community of learners and researchers by forming them into competent locators and users of information and equipping them with knowledge necessary in today’s information-based society and become living witnesses of Christ.

MISSION

As such, the library, in support to the educational goals  commits itself to:

· provide a balanced collection of well selected information resource materials to give effective support to the curricular, co-curricular and spiritual programs of the college;

· enhance and maintain quality library services with    strengthened students and faculty utilization of library      information resources;

· assist the students and researchers in their research undertakings in managing and retrieving information, for them to acquire skills with the use of modern technologies; and

· promote total quality management system.

GOALS

1. Attain basic collection of well selected titles to give effective support to the educational programs of the college.

2. Carry out the institutional goals through the strengthened use of the library resources by the students and faculty for development and professional growth.

3. Promote and maintain quality in terms of library services in support to the academic and research programs of the school.

OBJECTIVES

1. Provide adequate library services which include instruction on effective use of the library resources and information   retrieval.

2. Update library collections to an acceptable student-book ratio in all subjects for academic programs offered, and    additional serial / periodical sources.

3. Strengthen coordination between the library staff and faculty on the use of library resources its selection process and   acquisition for the improvement of institutional processes.

4. Enhance the vertical file collection and indexing of bound periodicals, its organization for better access to information that supplements recent updates of local interests.

5. Facilitate services on term paper and action research consultation for faculty and students and community researchers.

Canteen Services

VISION

We, in the Canteen, envision ourselves to provide competent, attentive and caring services toward our clients.

MISSION

Guided by our vision, we commit ourselves to:

· serve students, faculty, staff,  personnel and other clients nutritious, balanced and affordable meals;

· maintain adequate food supply, clean surroundings, and clean facilities;

· provide courteous and caring services towards the clients;

· make canteen facilities available to students, faculty, staff,  personnel and other clients at certain specified times; and

· provide canteen personnel opportunity for personal growth and development.

Clinic

VISION

We, in the school clinic envision ourselves as a community of disciples of Jesus Christ, the compassionate healer, providing competent and genuine health services towards our clients in the attainment of optimum health and well-being which is a crucial   factor for learning and progress.

MISSION

Guided by our vision, we fully commit ourselves to:

· provide necessary physical care to our clients;

· increase clients sensitivity and concern for the preservation of emotional and physical nourishment and care; and

· promote healthful practices for daily living.

Guidelines

  1. The school clinic caters to the health needs of the whole school community and is open every Monday – Friday,   7:30 – 11:30 a.m.; 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. and every Saturday, 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  2. It provides necessary physical care to the clients which   include the following:
    a. giving over the counter medications (analgesic, antipyretics);
    b. getting blood pressure;
    c. measuring height and weight; and
    d. providing first aid interventions on minor wounds (abrasions, incisions, punctures); first degree burns, syncope (unconsciousness); pain (headache, toothache, abdominal pain); hyperthermia (fever); dyspnea (difficulty of breathing); colds etc.
  3. Part-time physician and dentist conduct yearly checkup of every high school and grade school student and semestral checkup of every college student.
  4. The school nurse arranges for services of a community health agency or with the RHU for the client, if necessary.
  5. The school nurse presents information to the clientele that will help promote healthful practices especially during class visits through health education.

The Saint Michael College Cantilan, Incorporated Services commits to provide competent security programs and services in partnership with the school community in attaining the ultimate   objective of having a secured school environment.

MISSION

The Security Services protects and secures the lives and properties of the academic community and its clientele through competitive security guideline and policies and efficient and effective services.
